Author Diana Wallach
series taking classic myths and modernizing them featuring strong teen heroines. The series was kicked off in 2012 with Jammie Kern’s “Ryann in the Sky” and “Taylor on Lockdown”. Magda Knight, a UK author, will take the reins next with her summer short story releases beginning with “Seal Girl”. Wallach will follow Magda Knight’s Mythology High shorts later this year. The digital series will be made available to middle and high school English teachers nationwide as part of Buzz Books’ Teen OutRead program to bring modern digital stories into the classroom for purposes of understanding story structure, narrative, characterization and how to creatively update a classic myth.
Wallach is the author of Amor and Summer Secrets, Amigas and School Scandals, and Adios to All The Drama (Kensington Books). In 2011, she published a highly regarded essay in Dear Bully: 70 Authors Tell Their Stories (HarperCollins), and in 2013, she will publish a short-story trilogy based on the Narcissus myth in the anthology Mythology High (Buzz Books). In 2010 Diana was named one of the Top Ten New Latino Authors to Watch by LatinoStories.com, and she placed second in the International Latino Book Awards. She is an advisory board member for the Philly Spells Writing Center, and is an active advocate for inner-city public schools. She hold a B.S. in Journalism from Boston University. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband and daughter.
